Harwell: Accelerating healthcare innovation

UK astronaut Tim Peake is among the speakers examining how rapid advancement of knowledge of the physical world is addressing urgent problems in healthcare and life sciences.
The event will be introduced by Professor Sir John Bell GBE, Regius Professor of Medicine at the University of Oxford.
Plenary sessions will address:
- environmental exposure and human diseases
- drug discovery
- ageing
Tim Peake is expected to attend to describe his six-month mission to the International Space Station. He will share details of the biological experiments that he performed under microgravity conditions.
The programme includes a workshop organised by the Oxfordshire Local Enterprise Partnership on further developing health technology activities at Harwell alongside wider life sciences capabilities in Oxfordshire.
The programme will also feature the launch of a Human Spaceflight Capitalisation Office at Harwell.
